From Local Shop to Sunshine Coast Legacy
Kayak and SUP Sunshine Coast began as a small shop supporting local paddlers across the region. Today, we proudly continue that legacy as an online and appointment-based business helping people choose the right kayak, SUP, or electric motor with confidence.
Our goal remains the same: to help locals and travellers enjoy the water safely — whether it’s for fishing, exploring, or family fun.
A Fresh Start — Under New Ownership by a Familiar Face
In June 2025, a new chapter began for Kayak and SUP Sunshine Coast — but for many locals, I’m not a new face.
I’m Daniele Giannatempo (most people call me Dan), originally from Italy but proud to call the Sunshine Coast home. My wife and I moved here years ago, and our two children were both born right here — this community means everything to us.
Before relaunching Kayak and SUP, I spent several years as General Manager of Viking Kayaks Australia, working closely with paddlers across Queensland. When the old Warana store closed, I felt the loss deeply — but I also saw the chance to rebuild it with a modern approach.
Today, I’m bringing Kayak and SUP back as a local, appointment-based business from Mountain Creek, helping people choose, set up, and pick up their kayaks right here on the Coast.
Kayaking saved me during the hardest time of my life — and now it’s my mission to share that magic with others.
A Personal Connection to the Water
My connection to the water runs deep. I discovered paddling as a way to slow down, reconnect, and find peace — something that quickly grew into a lifelong passion.
Now, through Kayak and SUP Sunshine Coast, I get to share that passion with others. Whether it’s setting up a family’s first tandem kayak, helping someone fit a Bixpy electric motor, or guiding new paddlers through their first launch, I love seeing people experience the same calm and excitement that kayaking has brought to my life.
Reviving Kayak & SUP — A Mission from the Heart
When the original store closed, the Sunshine Coast lost more than a business — it lost a community hub for paddlers. Relaunching Kayak and SUP wasn’t about starting from scratch; it was about preserving that spirit.
We’ve rebuilt it in a modern, flexible way — offering online sales, in-person appointments, and local pickups by booking. Each visit is personal, relaxed, and focused on helping customers make the most of their time on the water.
We proudly meet local customers in person at our Mountain Creek location, with appointments available during the week.
